WordCamps are casual, locally-organized conferences covering everything related to WordPress, the free and open source personal publishing software that powers over 40% of the Web. WordCamps are official WordPress events, supported by WordPress Community Support, PBC OR WordCamp Central (a subsidiary of the WordPress Foundation) and are held all over the world.

The beautiful state of Kerala in India is all set to host its inaugural regional WordCamp – WordCamp Kerala 2023, which is being held in the coastal city of Kochi, on March 25, 2023 (Saturday) at IMA Hall!

WordCamps are not new to the state of Kerala, in fact the state has had three WordCamps before (WordCamp Kochi) – in 2017, 2018, and 2019. The events were pivotal in building a WordPress community across the state with a cumulative strength of over 4200 members as part of the Trivandrum, Kochi, Kozhikode, and Palakkad Meetup groups! After a brief gap imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, all these local communities are joining hands to organize the inaugural WordCamp Kerala in March 2023!

What is WordPress?

To put it simply, WordPress is an open source software that allows anyone to create your own website or blog on a web server. As for 2023 January, it powers over 40% of all websites in the internet, and is literally the most popular content management system. Built using PHP, MySQL, and Javascript, it is also used by some of the biggest brands of the world including Meta (Facebook), Rolling Stone, TIME Magazine, The Walt Disney Company, not to mention top government organizations in the United States, Canada, Europe, and also India!
